daniel always says he works two jobs and goes to school. that is because not only does he teach but he also has to do committee work and has to be an exhibiting artist. he always has something up his sleeve, some next show. we are very blessed that he has so many opportunities. this show "imprint" was a print show that he and his colleague/friend darrell co-curated.
the boys... the boys. nice work guys! another job well done.
olive liked the show but basically wanted to cuddle with her dad the whole time.
and eat crackers off the reception table.
here we are getting ready to go to a show at UK that daniel and darrell acquired.
we swept olive up from her nap and changed her, trying to get out the door. she wasn't too happy about it. she needed us to slow down and cuddle until she could wake up a little more.
we put her jacket on her and set her down and she burst into tears. i know what can fix that- a banana. works every time.
their show was called "bookends or lapjoint". the concept was essentially a retrospective. they each selected works that shaped their artistic careers going as far back as undergrad and coming as far forward as today. they each got an opposite side of the gallery, traveled through time and progress and ended in a section where they hung collaborative pieces they had worked on during the previous week.
there was a tremendous turnout. so many people showed up! we ended up closing it late because of people wanting to see the work. quite a success!
kristin and owen (darrell's family minus evy).
cuddle with dad while eating a cracker- essential art opening happenings.
people looking at daniel's work.
brandon and sonya even came for a daddy/daughter date night!
olive thought owen was pretty interesting. she kept staring at him and touching his stroller.
the cutest thing was when olive saw sonya she walked up behind her slowly and held out her arms. when sonya turned around i said "i think she wants a hug". sonya knelt down and olive leaned in...FOREVER. she stayed in that hug for the longest time. sonya was such a good sport and was very patient. it was the sweetest thing. olive loves her some sonya.
brandon wasn't exempt from the loves. he got some too.
i was very proud of the boys. they once again did a great job. here is olive saying "let's blow this popsicle stand... it's past my bedtime". daniel's events after this have been/will be in indiana. he has juried an art exhibit at a university there and will have a show at an arts center in new albany. busy busy busy- that's just how he is.
