in the life of olive

in one week olive will be 16 months and she always keeps me smiling!

she has three different play cell phones and loves them all. they are some of her favorite toys.

hello? yes.. uh huh.

she loves pictures of dogs. she likes the dog care aisle at target because there are so many dog pictures on the products. one of her favorite things to do is go to pet-smart and watch the dogs get groomed.

i went to the MOPS consignment sale and aced it on shoes. i got so many great name high dollar shoes for so cheap.

some new tennis shoes for olive.

the sun was so bright neither of us could look at the camera.

i will walk mom, but not on this grass stuff.

ok, yes, this is much better.

taking a little walk down the sidewalk.

me and my lady.

olive has also started feeding herself with her spoon. she feels like such a big girl!

she still loves looking out windows.

more than play with toys, or read books, olive just likes to walk around the house. she walks from room to room to room. she just likes checking it all out.

playing with another one of her toy phones.

in the morning we take a walk then olive gets to watch one of the shows on pbs kids. her favorite is sid the science kid. she usually sits on the sofa beside me or in my lap to watch it. but today she wanted to get up close and personal.

even on her tippy toes.

man oh man... i love that sid!

if the front door is open, she cannot resist. she loves seeing what is going on in the neighborhood.

trying to use her foot to push open the door.

on this day we went to the park to see the ducks and geese at the pond.

olive was so excited! she so intensely watched them and squealed every now and then.

then we went into an open field and walked around, sat down and hung out for a bit.
cool girl in her shades. (side note- she is obsessed with bracelets, she loves playing with them and wearing them. she is wearing my mom's breast cancer awareness bracelet in this picture).

these sunnies are tricky.

hmmm...

there i think i've got it!

almost...

yes?

oh well. i am over it.

hey look! pine needles!

olive gets so hot... and it being summer time does not help. i pulled her hair off her face with barrettes and she looked so cute i had to snap a few pics off.

such a beautiful little lady!

daddy was playing with her. she loves stickers. well she has never seen a sticker really. but she loves anything that sticks: name tags, clothing stickers, tape. daniel put a piece of tape on his shoulder to see what she would do.

she says "i've got it!"

dad- why is this here?

don't worry- i throws it in the grass.

still with the headstands.

still with the tape.

watching a show with dad. this is her security blanket. my cousin virginia gave her a blanket exactly like this when she was born. she is in love with this blanket- it gives her comfort. at one point we were without it and she was so upset. we realized we needed a back up. so i went to the store i thought it came from to find it. they had the same blanket but not the same color. i picked it up wondering if it would be the same for her. no sooner had i picked it up from the rack did olive have it in her hands, holding the corner and sucking her finger. yep- did the trick. so now we have two.

she knows her dad is looking at her- look at her face change.

she leaned in and gave him a kiss. so sweet!

this is what she does with her blanket. holds a corner in both hands and chews on her left pointer finger. who knows.

here we are with the bracelet thing. i took her to target once and couldn't get her out of the bracelet section. she tried them all on. she put on on that she liked (a big clear plastic one that was shiny) and just walked away into a different department. she said "yep this is the one". i let her wear it all over the store until we were ready to leave. not sure what it is about bracelets but she sure is glad mom has some she can borrow.

yep, looks good clover.

having a snack at her cooler table.

don't even think about it clover.

trying on another of mom's bracelets.

and walking around with it putting it off and on.

love this little monkey.

on friday's we go to reading group at the library and the later we do lunch with dad at the school cafeteria. we thought we would wear our new red shoes for such a big day. i got them also from the consignment sale. they are a little big but olive loves them!

let's go see daddy!

she put her name tag back on from reading group. you see- stickers! she loves them!

playing with her name tag.

first time she was able to successfully put a shoe on by herself. wrong foot but did she care- absolutely not! she did it herself- that's all that matters!

going to show dad.

looking at a book with dad. sure do love him!

he is super special!

Aunt Bethie has red shoes that are very similar to those ... Now I will think of her when I wear them. Love the pics, Bug, she is gorgeous.
