yep... he's brilliant

this semester has been crazy for daniel because so many people have discovered how brilliant daniel is and given him lots of opportunities. these opportunities have been occupying his every moment. and while we are so grateful for these shows and events we were also quite grateful when all the work was completed. previous to this weekend daniel had installed a solo show at the 930 gallery in louisville. olive and i went to check it out on the way to daniel's new albany reception.

the space was huge and beautiful and the director, michael, was very professional and kind. it was the perfect venue for daniel's work. very clean and gorgeous. michael said they always had group shows in the space because it is so big until they met daniel and saw how much work he had. it was quite impressive that daniel could fill it and his work was met with great response!

olive thought it was pretty neat too!

the title of the show was "mountains, valleys and table legs".

whoa, this is pretty cool guys.

then michael gave us a tour of the adjoining building which is actually a really cool church! the church supports the arts incredibly. they commission photographers to go to where their missions are and photograph the people. they also commissioned someone to paint the creation story for the children's wing. here are daniel and obbi in front of it. it was a really neat place, one we were really fortunate to work with.

after we left the 930 gallery we went to new albany indiana as that night was to celebrate the new albany outdoor sculpture exhibit that daniel was a part of. and that he has been toiling over for what has seemed like years. here he is working on the project in the beginning.

it has been a long road.

and i can't even explain how very hard he has worked. he has poured his heart and soul into this piece.

these are the finished pieces he installed weeks prior to the reception.

he was met with a lot of excitement and support in new albany. so many people came out to see his work when he installed it! he was in a lot of publications and on the local news. quite the big deal!

so flash forward and here we are driving to indiana. he is on the phone with the director who is coordinating the project.

from where he has had to travel here on so many numerous occasions for the project daniel is giving me the tour.

cool old drawbridge.

and here we go!

we arrived at donna's house- our host, who was so very kind and hospitable!

her dog, kelsey.

oh! lilly made it too?!

we grabbed some dinner and headed to the reception. here is daniel in all his glory with olive. standing next to his incredible work!

we could never express how very proud of him we are. i am always in awe of him and what he accomplishes. and olive is speechless.

father's day 2010

we will be traveling on father's day so we celebrated it early.

olive took her dad to joe bologna's in downtown lexington.

my daddy is the best. he plays with me, reads to me, tickles me and even shares his yogurt with me. i love him forever.

june BT (before travels)

olive combing her dad's hair with her my little pony hairbrush.

playing with her market food in the sunlight.

yum... fake strawberries feel good on teething gums.

when food arrives the children swarm.

you got that one clover but i am getting the next one.

pick me dad, pick me!

just so beautiful!

we got a watermelon for olive to try. of all the different foods she eats we were surprised that she wanted nothing to do with that watermelon. clover didn't have that problem.
thanks dad, i love watermelon!

my silly little lady.

daniel replaced some fans and lights with new fans in our house. it made quite a difference in the aesthetic of each room. it was very exciting. and daniel definitely earned his street cred crawling around in the attic and digging through insulation to make it happen.

go daniel, go! take down that fan!

olive is doing great walking around with just one hand held. she will get it soon i am sure!

bath time!

olive is so proud of herself when she puts something on the tub ledge and it stays.

i got to cut sonya's hair. her friend had her hair cut into a bob and she wanted one too.

she looked so very precious!

then olive got time to play with barrettes with her.

helping mom drain the tub after bath.

brushing teeth. she has 3 on the bottom and working on the top ones.

playing peek-a-boo around the living room chair.

still loves her lilly.

and her piggy.

she is on the move. you definitely have to keep a close eye on her these days. olive goes wherever she pleases.

plays with coins...

turns around and looks at a book...

grabs clover's ball...

hugging clover...

phew... this girl is all over the place.

here you go mom, you can hold lilly.

such a sweet and precious little miss.
